Bryant Lake Bowl 11.1.08

On Saturday morning Akleema and I wanted to walk up to the new Flavor Cafe on Lake and Bryant, unfortunately, they were not open. So we decided to cross the street and have lunch at The Bryant Lake Bowl. For those of you that don't know the BLB, it is an bowling alley (circa 1950). They have 8 warped bowling lanes and a small, but busy restaurant.

As we waited to be seated, about 15 minutes, we looked over the menu and decided on the lunch items were we going to order. Once we were finally seated, we placed our orders and discovered that they do not serve lunch on Saturday's. We were so disappointed that we almost walked out. When you have your mind set on lunch, sometimes it's hard to focus on anything else.

Reluctantly, we ordered breakfast.

We found out shortly that it was the best decision we made all day,

Fresh Coke is a great cure for the Saturday Morning hangovers.....

Biscuits & Gravy ($7.50)
This was a great take on the classic dish. The gravy had huge chucks of mushrooms and onion. I spiced it up with a little chili sauce and some fresh black pepper. The two sausage links that came with the dish were unbelievable. They were almost deep fried. I even asked our server how they were prepared and she stated that they were baked and then grilled. Amazing!!!!!

Bison Hash ($9.00)
First, if you’ve never had bison, it’s similar to beef in texture and taste, however it’s leaner than beef therefore better for you. Second, I was not happy that I had to order from the breakfast menu, I wanted a burger, and I wanted it five minutes ago. So I grudgingly ordered the bison without the eggs with an English muffin, toasted ( I was pretty happy about the English muffin choice). Once arrived it was a lovely sight, red, green and purple coloring my plate. Which was perfect because I am one of those people that need to fall in love visually with my food before eating it. Chopped red and green bell peppers, the purple onions, potatoes and bison were thinly sliced and well seasoned. I added some Siracha for spice. I love this dish, it was satisfying for both my mouth and my eyes. And I had left over’s! I was super happy, already excited that I was going to eat this later in the day.
